Now entering its 28th year, Broadway Theatre Project (BTP) announces more 2018 visiting artists.
Joining the 2018 BTP Summer Institute is Caroline O'Connor, born in Oldham, Lancashire England. At age 10, O'Connor was named Australian Irish Dance Champion and went on to train at the Royal Ballet School in London, until Anthony Warlow (Australian musical theatre actor) pointed her in the direction of musical theatre. She made her Broadway debut as Velma Kelly in Chicago, and played Mabel in Mack & Mabel, which earned her an Olivier award nomination. Currently, O'Connor is on Broadway for the musical, Anastasia as Countess Lily Malevsky at the Broadhurst Theatre.
Caroline O'Connor joins Warren Carlyle, Katie Mixon and Melinda Sullivan as part of the visiting artists team for BTP 2018. More BTP visiting artists and faculty will be announced soon.
BTP is now accepting applications for the 2018 Summer Apprenticeship program, being held July 8-29, 2018. The deadline for applications and recorded auditions is February 12, 2018 with letters of acceptance are being made by February 15th. In order to apply to become an apprentice at BTP 2018, students must complete and send an application form available on www.broadwaytheatreproject.com, along with a recorded audition to Debra McWaters at flodecarlo@aol.com by March 24, 2017. Live auditions will be held at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts on January 27, 2018. Also the participants of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region 1 from January 30-February 4th will have two chances to audition. Other live audition opportunities will be posted on the BTP website as they are schedule, so please check the website regularly.
