The Maltz Jupiter Theatre's kick-off event to unveil its 10th anniversary celebration retrospective costume exhibit at The Gardens Mall raised nearly $40,000 for the not-for-profit professional Theatre.

Approximately 150 people attended the exclusive benefit, held at the Grand Court in The Gardens Mall on April 15. The intimate evening included a cocktail reception, dinner, and unveiling of the spectacular exhibit, now on display at the mall through April 29. The exhibit is the result of a partnership with The Gardens Mall and Costume World.

The exquisite evening transported guests through the style and fashion of unforgettable moments from nine seasons of the Theatre's hit shows. The event featured a candlelight dinner, string quartet, guitarist and performances by young stars from the theatre's Paul and Sandra Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts.

"In true theatrical form, the evening encompassed the Theatre's mission of entertaining, educating and inspiring our community," said Andrew Kato, the Theatre's producing artistic director. "We are extremely happy that we were able to host our kick-off dinner and costume retrospective display at such an extraordinary venue as The Gardens Mall. This has been a wonderful opportunity to launch our 10th anniversary season and celebrate with the community."

The evening was made possible by a host committee and sponsors that included Sidney and Madeline Forbes, The Gardens Mall and Michele Jacobs (corporate director of marketing and operations for The Forbes Company, owner of The Gardens Mall), Marilynn and Kimberly Wick and Costume World, Joan and Alan Safir, Ellen Tschappat and Roger Berk, Jackie and Richard Loynd, Gil Walsh Interiors, PNC Bank, Bloomingdale's, Braman Motorcars, Kilwin's and Brio Tuscan Grille.

Currently on display is a collection of original costumes from more than 35 of the Theatre's hit shows, including The Sound of Music, Evita, La Cage Aux Folles, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Crazy for You. Also featured are 10 costumes for the Theatre's upcoming 2012/2013 season, featuring Amadeus, The Music Man, Singin' in the Rain, Doubt and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular mall hours (Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.) from April 16 through 29. Residents and visitors are invited to experience this extraordinary collection that represents the finest costumes and most elaborate dresses ever brought to the stage.
