New Orleans native DAVID PRUYN began his professional music career at age 11, as a circus drummer- and progressed to the trumpet several years later (following the same path as one of his idols, the great Harry James- who also had a trumpet-playing bandleader for a father!); then in 1995, as an adjunct to his successful playing, conducting, and arranging exploits, David heeded the sage advice of his friend, the late Rick Fay, who gently insisted he develop his potential as a singer.
Having the good fortune to be tutored by Broadway vocal coaching legend Fred Silver, David soon began receiving notice by jazz fans and musicians alike, struck by the similarity of his sound and phrasing to that of the incomparable Mel Torme, his vocal hero.
In pursuit of the jazz and big band facet of his career, David trained on the job with, among others: Dick Hyman, Chick Corea, Mike Renzi, Vincent Falcone, Ray Brown, Jaco Pastorius, Don Menza, Pete Christlieb, Ernie Watts, Eddie Barefield, Al Cohn, John LaPorta, Bob Mintzer, Nick Brignola, Bill Prince, Terry Myers, Bobby Shew, Doc Severinsen, Snooky Young, Walt Johnson, Carl Saunders, Byron Stripling, Buddy Morrow, Dave Steinmeyer, Rich Matteson, Bill Allred, Dave Wolpe- and singers Mel Torme, Jack Jones, Steve Lawrence, Frank Sinatra, Jr., Walt Andrus, Al Jarreau, Rosemary Clooney, The Manhattan Transfer, and an old hometown buddy by the name of Harry Connick, Jr.
Michelle James-Pruyn has spent a lot of time on the stage- her professional career began at age 15, and has taken her to venues all over the United States, including the White House and Disney World. She has headlined as well for major cruise lines, performing at some of the word's most beautiful destinations. Her soothing voice, uplifting style, and wide-ranging vocal flights have audiences and industry professionals alike taking notice of her dynamic talent and mastery of styles.
Michele is the lead vocalist in the long running professional tour of "The Sounds Of Harry James & The Andrews Sisters", portraying the role of Patty.
She is also the female vocalist with The Paramount Swing Orchestra, and her husband David, a full time professional musician, is the bandleader.
