Based on the 1960s TV show, our Carrollwood Hootenanny is a folk music buffet of songs like "Blowin' in the Wind", "This Land is Your Land", "Cottonfields", "If I had a Hammer", "Crazy "and many more, sung live on stage by soloists, duets, trios, and groups up to 20. We have auditioned the best banjo players, guitarists, and have found mandolin and ukulele players as well. The sound is all-American fun and the voices will have our audience singing along.

"We have had a great response from talented individuals that want to perform at the Hootenanny," said Paul Berg, Executive Director, "The evening should be a lot of fun for the audience and performers."

Our production, like the old TV show will be three sets (about 30 minutes each) with live-on-stage commercials and a few corny jokes thrown in.

Dan Johnson will serve as the music director. His group of singers has been together for about 15 years and performs about 3-4 times per year. Most recently they were the opening act for the New Christy Minstrels.

During this event, the Carrollwood Cultural Center will conduct a non-perishable food drive, "What Are Friends For", benefiting Village Presbyterian Church our local community pantry.

The mission of the Center is to offer cultural programs, services and events that encourage individual exploration and promotes a sense of community.

The Center participates with several Florida interest groups to promote the arts and its influences throughout the community. These groups offer intergenerational programs as well as initiatives that address particular individual needs and encompass graphic and performing arts, continuing education, and community outreach programs.
