YESTERDAY is a hit! Due to popular demand, FST announces the extension of its second show of the Winter Cabaret season only three weeks after it opened. Audiences have raved over this show calling it, "Fabulous," "Brilliant," and "Absolutely fantastic."

In the mid-1960s, groups such as The Beatles, The Who, and The Rolling Stones were topping the charts. While trying to replicate the rebellious tone of American Rock 'N' Roll, a new sound emerged. By 1964 The Beatles alone had 31 hits on the Top 100. Journey back to a time of peace, love, and everything in between with songs such as "Let It Be," "Satisfaction," and "You Really Got Me Going."

Co-creator and Managing Director, Rebecca Hopkins speaks to the enthusiastic response from audiences prompting such an early extension announcement stating, "This is a very special show. The cast of this show is really phenomenal and have brought so much to the music. Every night they bring so much vibrancy to the show as they feed off the energy of the audience. We all know the British Invasion had a massive impact on American Rock and Roll. We all think we know the music, but a large portion of the audience every night was there when the songs first hit the airwaves. They lived the history. It is sharing that experience with the audience that makes you realize how truly impactful this music is to our culture."

Yesterday celebrates a time of peace, love, and everything in between. Now playing through May 8, 2016, Subscriptions to all three Cabaret shows may be purchased for as little as $39 and may be purchased online at FloridaStudioTheatre.org, by phone at (941) 366-9000, or by visiting the Box Office.

Known as Sarasota's Contemporary Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre was founded in 1973 by Artist, Jon Spelman. Starting out as a small touring company, FST traveled to places such as migrant camps and prisons. The company then acquired the former Woman's Club building, becoming the first permanent venue. Shortly after Producing Artistic Director, Richard Hopkins arrived, the building was purchased and renamed The Keating Theatre. In the years that followed, Florida Studio Theatre established itself as a major force in American Theatre, presenting contemporary theatre in its five theatre venues: the Keating Theatre, the Gompertz Theatre, the Parisian style Goldstein Cabaret and John C. Court Cabaret, and Bowne's Lab Theatre.

Even with its growth, Florida Studio Theatre remains firmly committed to making the arts accessible and affordable to a broad-based audience. FST develops theatre that speaks to our living, evolving, and dynamically changing world. As FST grows and expands, it continues to provide audiences with challenging, contemporary drama and innovative programs.
