Florida Studio Theatre Announces Kids Komedy Cabaret 7/22 Thru 7/25

Florida Studio Theatre announces the 2009 Kids Komedy Cabaret. A hit at the recent Sarasota Improv Festival; performances are an eclectic mix of improvisation and sketch-comedy written and performed by kids for kids. Giggles and rib tickling laughs abound as the young performers show us their comical take on the world from a fresh and silly perspective. Rated 'K' for kids of all ages.

The Kids Komedy Cabaret will be performed by students from the Florida Studio Theatre School. Students ages 9 - 16 are eligible for the class. New classes begin Friday, October 2, 2009.

The Kids Komedy Cabaret performance dates are July 22nd, 23rd, and 25th at 12:00 pm in the Goldstein Cabaret. Individual Tickets are $3 per person and may be purchased from the FST Box Office in person or by phone at (941) 366-9000 or online at www.FloridaStudioTheatre.org. Advanced purchase of tickets is recommended.

Known as Sarasota's Contemporary Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre was founded in 1973 by Jon Spelman. Starting out as a small touring company, FST traveled to places such as migrant camps and prisons. The company eventually settled down into a permanent home, acquiring the former Woman's Club building - now renamed the Keating Theatre. In the years that followed, Florida Studio Theatre established itself as a major force in American Theatre, presenting contemporary theatre in its three theatre venues: the Keating Theatre, the Goldstein Cabaret and its newest space, the Gompertz Theatre.

Even with its growth, Florida Studio Theatre remains firmly committed to making the arts accessible and affordable to a broad-based audience. Under Richard Hopkins, Artistic Director and CEO, FST develops theatre that speaks to our living, evolving, and dynamically changing world.
