On September 24, 2011 a March for the "Forgotten Children" will take place at Curtis Hixon Park, in downtown Tampa, followed by a family friendly celebration with music, food, guest speakers and family friendly activities and entertainment by Shana Banana, the J Dalton Band and more!

Registration for the March begins at 9:00 AM with the March beginning at 10:00 AM followed by the family celebration until 2 PM.

This event is free and open to the public. If you wish to sponsor a "forgotten child" in the March the cost is $100. Sponsoring a child can be done by an individual or a group can get together to sponsor. All proceeds go directly to advocate for the abused, neglected and abandoned children in our community.

WHEN:
Saturday, September 24, 2011

WHERE:
Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa

WHY:
There are currently over 700 children in Hillsborough County who need a Guardian ad Litem Volunteer, to give them a voice. Voices for Children of Tampa Bay and the Hillsborough County Guardian ad Litem program are joining together, for the 2nd Annual Forgotten Children March. Communities across the country are standing up for abused and neglected children in foster care to provide support for these children. Together the hope is to increase awareness, raise needed dollars and encourage people to volunteer and become a Guardian ad Litem.

The Guardian ad Litem Program is based on the belief that every child has a right to a safe, permanent, loving home. Volunteers advocate for children who have been removed from their home due to abuse, abandonment or neglect. They lend their "Voice" to a child who otherwise would not have one.

We cannot afford to rest until every child in our community has someone who cares enough about them to speak out on their behalf. 700 abused and neglected kids without a voice are too many! 70 are too many! 7 are too many! This isn't optional for Hillsborough County any more.
