ELIZABETH AND EDWARD By Aubrey Hampton makes its world premiere April 2-19, 2009
Part Pageant, Part Burlesque!

A new play by Gorilla Theatre founder Aubrey Hampton, Elizabeth and Edward romps through Elizabethan England and beyond. Marlowe, Bacon, and the man we call "Shakespeare" meet Queen Elizabeth I, Edward DeVere - and even Chaplin, Freud and Mark Twain!

Based on documented details in the lives of Queen Elizabeth I and Lord Edward de Vere, the play speculates that de Vere was the real author of "Shakespeare"s masterpieces.

Meet the author at talkbacks - dates to be announced.

Nancy Cole (Jane Eyre, Six Degrees of Separation) directs the production, which is sumptuously designed by Mike Buck (costume) and Allen Loyd (scenic).

The cast includes many favorites: Giles Davies, Pat Fenda, Scott Isert, Alvin Jenkins, Steve Mountan, Magali Naas, Kyle Porter, Chris Perez, Soolaf Rasheid and Reggie Robinson.
