The Broadway Theatre Project has announced that actor, conductor, music director and vocal arranger David Loud will teach young performers aspiring to be on Broadway, at this year's summer intensive program.
This summer, David Loud has asked to work with 12 of the Broadway Theatre Project's best singers in a workshop setting. He will also do a Q&A and teach master classes to all of the students.
David Loud is particularly well known for his collaborations with composer Stephen Sondheim, the song writing team of John Kander and Fred Ebb, and director Scott Ellis.
Highlights of his career as a musical director include the original Broadway productions of Ragtime, Sondheim, Steel Pier, The Look of Love, Curtains and the Scottsboro Boys, the revivals of Company and Sweeney Todd, the world premiers of The Visit, Harold and Maude and First You Dream. Also included is the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of She Loves Me and the hit off Broadway production of And The World Goes 'Round for which he recreated the vocal and dance arrangements.
Debra McWaters of the Broadway Theatre Project states "'First You Dream: The Music Of Kander and Ebb', of which David is co-conceiver, is a work of love for him, as he worked as a collaborator and musical arranger for these two men for many years. His uncanny ability to meld three songs into one beautiful piece of music, move from one mood to another in a smooth, whimsical fashion, and create the best stop times I know make him my favorite dance arranger. To have him come to the Broadway Theatre Project year after year is as much a joy to me as it is to the apprentices."
David Loud will be joining other Master Guest Artists including Co-Artistic Director for 2012, Ben Vereen.
