Carrollwood Players will present CRIMES OF THE HEART by Beth Henley from April 8 - April 30, 2016.

Part of the literary genre known as "Southern Gothic," Henley's CRIMES OF THE HEART is dark humor and tragedy slathered in estrogen, with Heart being at its core.

CRIMES OF THE HEART stars Casey Adam, Ryan Belock, Mary Jordan, Georgia Kosloski, Constantine Kyriakou, and Joie Marsh.

"This is a delicious slice of Southern American Pie. Men, as well as, women will be drawn in.

We have a great story performed by extremely talented actors," said director Robin New.

CRIMES OF THE HEART is set in Hazelhurst, Mississippi and tells the story of the three Magrath sisters -Lenny, Meg, and Babe - who reunite to support the youngest sister, Babe who has just gotten out of jail for shooting her husband.

The sisters await news of their grandfather, who is on his deathbed. Lenny, the oldest sister, is unmarried at thirty and facing diminishing marital prospects; Meg, the middle sister is back after a failed singing career. Their serious and still hilarious troubles are underscored by their cousin, Chick who finds displeasure in everything about the MaGraths, and by the awkward young lawyer who tries to keep Babe out of jail while falling in love with her.

Each sister is eventually forced to face the consequences of the "crimes of the heart" she has committed.

"The intrigue and mystery of murder mixed with comedy and romance make for a great and inexpensive date night that will leave you feeling good and entertained," said New.

The play runs weekends from April 8 through April 30; Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3.
