JAZZ WITH JIM: WEST COAST MEETS EAST COAST

WEST COAST: featuring the Jazz Directions with Dick Rumore on sax and Phil Provinzano on flugel Horn

Dick and Phil will represent the "Cool School of Jazz" aka Gerry  Mulligan/Chet Baker. The music is highly contrapuntal (That is it  features two different melodic lines moving simultaneously)and
featuring a remarkable level of interplay between the two musicians.  Experimentation is the order of the day with the resulting sounds  lighter and more varied than traditional bebop. West Coast Jazz also  used flute to a greater extent and appealed to the people who were as  familiar with classical music as jazz.  Join Dick and Phil for an evening of Jazz that's not only cool but  radically hip.  Return of the cool, a productive chapter in the evolution of music.

EAST COAST: featuring the Jazz Directions with Jim Burge and Tom Ziegelhofer on trumpet.
