Carrollwood Players Theatre will present a staged reading of Woody Allen's hilarious comedy Don't Drink The Water at the CWP Black Box, 4333 Gunn Highway, Tampa, FL, 33618 on Saturday, April 11th at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 12th at 3 p.m., starring popular Tampa actors Miguel E. Rodriguez and Denise Deneen along with a talented supporting cast of more than a dozen performers.

Carrollwood Players, Tampa's community theatre since 1981, is proud to present this inaugural production in their soon-to-be-complete black box/cabaret performance space, an intimate, 60-seat venue being created in the theatre's former storage area. The group plans to use the space to offer alternative programming in addition to the regular productions scheduled in their existing 100-seat main stage theatre.

Don't Drink The Water is a laugh-a-minute comedy written early in the career of offbeat actor, director and writer Woody Allen. It follows New Jersey tourists Walter and Marion Hollander through a wacky escapade in which they are trapped in an American Embassy after being mistaken for spies in a country behind the iron curtain. This staged reading will feature actors performing the play with script in hand and representational scenery and costumes.

"We are so excited to present our first event in what will soon be our completed black box/cabaret space," said director Jim Russell. "We'll be using the venue to offer everything from staged readings to musical cabaret, workshop productions of new theatre, improv comedy shows, a GLBT theatre weekend and much more," said Russell.
