Broadway Theatre Project Summer Faculty Includes Dance Virtuoso

Broadway Theatre Project's (BTP), visiting faculty will include international notable artists from all areas of musical theatre and dance. This summer apprentices will have the opportunity to work with Emmy-award winning dance virtuoso Jason Samuels Smith who will also be performing at this year's SummerStage Charlie Parker Jazz Festival in New York City.

Samuels-Smith, known for So You Think You Can Dance, has received myriad including a Dance Magazine Award, an Emmy and an American Choreography Award for "Outstanding Choreography". Mr. Samuels- Smith has also received Bessie recognition (NY Dance and Performance Awards); the Gregory Hines Humanitarian Award; Hoofers Award; Certificate of Appreciation by the City of Los Angeles for creating the First Annual Los Angeles Tap Festival (2003);

BTP is a program described by Playbill as "The world's most prestigious musical theatre arts education program for high school and college students", has extended its deadline for the upcoming 3-week summer institute held in July. Acceptance announcements for the remaining five spots will be announced on an individual basis.

This year, other visiting artists and faculty include: Austin Pendleton (Actor, Director, Playwright), Chazz Palminteri (Actor, Playwright), Todrick Hall (Singer, Songwriter, Dancer, Actor, Choreographer, Playwright), Gianna Palminteri (Actor, Producer, Writer), Herman Payne (Dancer, Choreographer), Donna McKechnie (Actor, Dancer), Peisha McPhee (Vocal Coach) and Michael Orland (Vocal Coach). The Broadway Theatre Project will be held July 9 - 30, 2017 at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Student housing and meals are provided. Apprentices must be at least 16 - exceptions will be considered on an individual basis. To apply, visit www.broadwaytheatreproject.com.
