Not Your Normal Entertainment (NYNE), Brandon's newest community theatre, is debuting its sophomore season with the biting satire "November" by David Mamet.
Politics is a messy business and no one knows that better than the President and his staff. In this political comedy, the President has lost the support of his party, his base, and his country. Through wildly politically incorrect actions, the President tries to get support back but ends up doing more harm than good.
Directed by Randy Magruder, the ensemble cast of 5 features Steven Bucko, Greg Summerall, Katie Sirmons, Jeff Sirmons, and Lindsey Guzzi.
Randy said, "Many political shows, tend to only appeal to one side or the other, but this show allows us to laugh at the very human weaknesses that all of us share. We unite in laughter at the lengths to which people will go when having the job becomes more important than doing the job."
Additional shows in the 2019 season include "A Necessary Conversation" about mental health, bullying and gun violence by local authors and educators Deborah Bostock Kelley and Peter Nason, "Cabaret," a love triangle that plays out against the rise of the Nazi party and the collapse of the Weimar Republic, and more.
NYNE's motto is "The shows we love, the conversations we need." They aim to spark meaningful conversations relevant to our society.
"November" will be performed Friday, February 22 at 8 pm, and Saturday, February 23 at2pm and 8 pm (137 S Parsons Ave. Brandon, FL). Tickets are $20. It will be performed at Brandon's Event Space in advance, or $25 at the door. A limited number of student/teacher rush tickets will be available 15 minutes before the show for $10.
