The Metropolitan Orchestra Making Magic In Marrickville.
The exquisite strings of The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) led by Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams, present the first of their 2023 Met Concerts on Sunday March 5th at Marrickville Town Hall. Featuring works from Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky and Australia’s Graeme Koehne, the Sunday afternoon performance will take audience members on a journey of joyful reflection with works that traverse uniquely wonderful musical soundscapes.
The program begins with Felix Mendelssohn’s single movement String Symphony number 10 which was written by the talented composer at just 14 years old. This piece finishes with a dramatic dash before the orchestra moves into Graeme Koehne’s reflective Time is a River featuring a solo clarinet floating on a musical river of time, which is represented by the sublime string section of The Metropolitan Orchestra. The performance comes to a blissful conclusion with Tchaikovsky’s colourful Souvenir de Florence. This final piece not only bursts at the seams with love and joy, but is a tour-de-force for the string orchestra which will leave both audience and performers absolutely elated.
The Metropolitan Orchestra are Proudly Supported by The Inner West Council.
