The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) led by dynamic Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams returns to Petersham Town Hall for a night filled with a combination of incredibly energised and intimate music. Leave your winter hibernation and experience an exceptional performance which will not only spotlight outstanding scores, but showcase the virtuosity, depth and dazzling musicianship of TMOs incredible string section in this electrifying concert. The evening sets off with Bernard Hermanns Psycho Narrative for String Orchestra. This impassioned musical narrative closely follows the haunting story of the original Psycho film from the leading ladys impulsive theft, her subsequent murder, Normans disposal of her body, through to his capture and incarceration, where in a cell he chillingly assures us in a final voice-over that he wouldnt hurt a fly. The spinal chills will continue with Puccinis melancholy Chrysanthemums which is a supreme example of the composers outstanding writing skill for string orchestra. TMO will then proudly welcome brilliant Australian violinist Maria Lindsay to the stage for Tommy Tychos hauntingly beautiful Violin Concerto before the orchestra moves to Edward Elgars masterful Introduction and Allegro. Designed to show off the players expertise, this fabulous work which is written for the unusual combination of a solo string quartet and full-string orchestra will pose a fitting, complex and somewhat moody completion to what will be an invigorating musical event.Supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW and The Inner West Council.MET CONCERT #3HERMANN Psycho: A Narrative for String OrchestraPUCCINI ChrysanthemumsTYCHO Violin ConcertoELGAR Introduction & AllegroConductor: Sarah-Grace WilliamsSoloist: Maria Lindsay - Violin
