Beethoven’s Pastoral at Riverside Theatres

Known for unearthing composers and rediscovering unknown historical chamber versions of the classics, the Australian Haydn Ensemble (AHE) presents Beethovens Pastoral for one very special performance on Sunday 13 June at Riverside Theatres.The program will bring to light two of the greats: Beethovens Pastoral and Mozarts Haffner Serenade, along with a melancholic and moving string sextet by Boccherini, in a brilliant celebration of chamber music, hosted by Riverside Theatres. The eighteenth-century arrangement of Beethovens grandiose masterwork for full symphony, the Pastoral presented in this program is a vibrant and passionate reinterpretation of this dramatic work that will capture imagination and reinvent it as a septet, in an intimate and intense setting.Mozarts Serenade No. 7 or the Haffner Serenade as it is often called, is one of his most well-known and frequently performed works. Masis chamber arrangement was published in the early 19th century as part of a set of popular Mozart symphonies for the same instrumentation as Watts arrangement of the Beethoven. Masis arrangement reflects Mozarts own shortened version of the Haffner Serenade that omits three of the original movements. AHE also performs a beautiful, dark and moving string sextet in F minor by Luigi Boccherini.
