The World Premiere of Dream Lover - The Bobby Darin Musical takes place tonight, Thursday 6 October, at the Sydney Lyric Theatre in front of a star-studded capacity audience.

Attending tonight's World Premiere will be Dodd Darin, son of Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee, with his wife Audrey Darin. Also in the audience will be the Governor of NSW, General David Hurley; NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres; Senator Marise Payne; producers John Frost, and John and Barbara Gilbert; Channel 9 personalities Sonia Kruger, Karl Stefanovic, Richard Wilkins, Peter Stefanovic, Sylvia Jeffries, Tim Gilbert, Georgie Gardiner, Scott Cam and Deborah Knight; singers including Jimmy Barnes, Marcia Hines, "Little" Patti Amphlett, Danielle Spencer, Prinnie Stevens and Rhonda Burchmore; actors including Roger Corser, Damon Herriman, John Waters, Demi Harman, Brooke Satchwell, Matt Nable, Nicholas Hammond, Maggie Kirkpatrick, Johnny Ruffo, Kate Fitzpatrick and Michael Caton; Olympic Gold medal winning Volleyball player Louise Bawden; TV favourites Kyle Prior, Darren Palmer, Ben Mingay and lots more.

An extraordinary story that goes far beyond the song, Dream Lover - The Bobby Darin Musical reveals the amazing life of this legendary American singer, songwriter and actor. An intimate and epic story of an all-round entertainer adored by his fans, Bobby Darin, together with his movie star wife Sandra Dee, provided the iconic soundtrack to a generation.

David Campbell stars as the Grammy award-winning singer and Oscar nominated actor, Bobby Darin, opposite Caroline O'Connor in the dual roles of Darin's mother Polly and Sandra Dee's mother Mary, Hannah Fredericksen as Sandra Dee,Bert LaBonte as Charlie, Martin Crewes as Darin's longtime manager Steve Blauner, and Marney McQueen as Nina, Darin's sister.

In ensemble and swing roles are Danielle Barnes, Justin Stewart Cotta, Xander Ellis, Matt Hamilton, Andrew Kroenert,Jessica Lindon, Tim Maddren, Phoebe Panaretos, Natasha Paramor, Joshua Robson, Michelle Smitheram, SuzAnne Steele, Ellen Sutton, Riley Sutton, Jack Van Staveren and Jayde Westaby, while Kyle Banfield, Nicholas Cradock andBrendan Godwin will alternate in the role of the young Bobby Darin.

Director Simon Phillips has assembled a dream Australian creative team for Dream Lover. Brian Thomson is set designer, Guy Simpson is musical supervisor, Andrew Hallsworth is choreographer, Tim Chappel is costume designer, Paul Jackson is lighting designer, Michael Waters is Sound Designer and Daniel Edmonds is musical director.

Based on an original concept and stage play by Frank Howson and John-Michael Howson, and adapted for the stage by Frank Howson with Simon Phillips and Carolyn Burns, the show includes 34 great hits from the 50s and 60s including Mack The Knife, Beyond the Sea, Splish Splash and the multi-million-seller Dream Lover.

Dream Lover - The Bobby Darin Musical was secured for Sydney by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.

Dream Lover - The Bobby Darin Musical captures the glamour and passion of the big band era, the Rat Pack in Vegas and the Golden Age of Hollywood, a time of trail-blazing stars, knock-out fashions and life-changing events. This exciting all-Australian production will play exclusively in Sydney at the Sydney Lyric Theatre for ten weeks only.
