Recognised as one of the most glamorous figures in classical music, Dutch violin virtuoso Janine Jansen will be returning to the Sydney Opera House next week to perform Brahms' much-loved Violin Concerto with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

This will be Jansen's first visit to Australia since 2009. Her last performance with the SSO was applauded by critics, with the Sydney Morning Herald saying "Janine Jansen played Dvorak's Violin Concerto with something approaching an ideal of violin sound, for its richness and flowing warmth... the performance carried the audience with sinewy sincerity."

Jansen will be joined onstage by her husband, eminent Swedish conductor Daniel Blendulf, who will be conducting the concerts, which will also include performances of Sibelius' Symphony No. 5 and Australian composer Nigel Butterley's Never the Sun, This Watcher.
