The internationally award-winning cabaret artist Tim Draxl returns to the cabaret stage on Thursday 18 February for one night only at Slide Lounge in his new show ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME as part of the Sydney Mardi Gras celebrations.

The exclusive engagement presents the acclaimed singer/actor up close and personal in a show about memory, passion and yearning. Tim will be accompanied by Daniel Edmonds (Strictly Ballroom musical director) on piano, and jazz legend Dave Ellis on bass. ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME is presented by writer/producer Bryce Hallett in association with Slide.

Classic songs and stirring theatre anthems explore passion and desire while affirming the imagination. Celebrating the past and gazing into the future, ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME - the name is taken from the mesmerising song by Sara Bareilles - is full of reverie and reminiscence as well as unforgettable show tunes. Having spent much of his career based in Los Angeles, Tim Draxl returns for his most intimate cabaret to date in which he reveals his lyricism and effortless showmanship. He takes audiences on a free-spirited adventure to the places he loves; a journey of indelible landscapes that awaken cherished songs.

ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME is an evening of romance, illusion and wonder; a musical pentimento, if you like, that unearths traces of the things we hold dear yet are in danger of losing. Among the musical riches are songs by Richard Rogers, Sinatra, Frank Loesser, Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, Don McLean and Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach. They include Falling in Love Again, Painted From Memory, Vincent, Cry Me A River, When in Rome, My Funny Valentine, You Don't Know What Love Is and the hypnotic ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME.

Tim Draxl currently stars in the Australian TV series A Place to Call Home (Foxtel) and features in the upcoming tele-movie Molly, about the legendary rock music producer/commentator Ian "Molly" Meldrum. Tim recently starred in the Terrence McNally play Mothers and Sons at the Ensemble Theatre where he earned rave reviews, and in the acclaimed musical bio-drama Freeway - The Chet Baker Journey at Hayes Theatre Co.

Tim Draxl began his career at the age of 17 when he went to New York and soon found himself singing in its famous cabaret rooms, including The Algonquin. He was the youngest winner of the prestigious MAC Award (Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs) for "best new cabaret talent".

Tim's film and television career has been extensive. In Australia he starred with Bryan Brown in Dirty Deeds and in Swimming Upstream alongside Geoffrey Rush and Judy Davis. He starred in Stephen Elliot's outlandish comedy A Few Best Men.

Tim premiered Freeway - The Chet Baker Journey in September 2010. The show was devised and co-written by journalist/writer Bryce Hallett. The show earned acclaim at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2011, the Sydney Opera House and the Melbourne Festival in 2012 and, most recently, at Hayes Theatre Co as part of the inaugural Sydney Morning Herald Spectrum Now.
