The magic of theatre is coming to Lend Lease Darling Quarter Theatre for the October school holidays with THE CONDUCTOR & THE CLOWN, written, directed and performed by George Washingmachine and George Ellis, with the 12 piece CONDUCTOR AND THE CLOWN ORCHESTRA.

Who's the main act - the serious classical Conductor or the cheeky Clown whose aim is to conduct the orchestra? See how the Clown tried to trick the Conductor off the stage. With all the Clown's hilarious antics, can the two ever become friends?

This is a wonderfully hilarious orchestral show for families that will have an exclusive season at Lend Lease Darling Quarter Theatre from today 1 to Saturday 5 October.

George Ellis is an exciting musician who is rapidly emerging as one of today's most talented Australian conductors. His extensive academic training in conducting, composition and arranging, in Australia and overseas, and a wide range of experience has enabled Ellis to develop the unique talent essential for sensitively traversing a broad range of musical genres. One of George Ellis's first conducting jobs was presenting a children's concert with the Sydney Youth Orchestra in Orange, NSW. From there he worked as assistant conductor to Simone Young at Opera Australia. He then landed the job of reviving and developing the Babies Proms series. This led to work across Australia and overseas. Ellis cites the most inspiring experience of his career was conducting the Sydney Symphony at the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony.

George has had a vast and varied career in the entertainment business, as a musician, actor and comedian. He is a multi-instrumentalist - proficient on double bass, guitar or anything with strings. George has written everything from rock and roll nursery rhymes for Mr Squiggle to music for the Bell Shakespeare Company. George formed rhythm & blues band, The Dead Wringers and in 1984 he played jazz fiddle with The Conway Brothers Hiccup Orchestra and performed with Graham Bond in the stage show "Captain Bloody".
