To celebrate the final weekend of Love and Desire: Pre-Raphaelite Masterpieces from the Tate, the National Gallery of Australia will present three nights of theatre, and the last chance to see the exhibition, from 26 - 28 April.
After a sell-out premiere season at La Mama, Enter Ophelia, a darkly funny gothic riff imagining a vastly different future for Shakespeare's drowned damsel, will be presented at the National Gallery of Australia by Essential Theatre and Three Birds Theatre.
In a world of mad men and murdering uncles, drowning never felt so good. A woman wanders an empty castle, clutching rotting flowers - told what to do, where to stand, what to think. No one really listens to her, no one really sees her.
Two of Melbourne's most exciting indie theatre companies Essential Theatre and Three Birds Theatre come together to present a thrilling exploration of femininity, isolation and silliness.
