Monkey Baa Theatre Company have been honoured with the prestigious Touring Legend Award at the 2015 APACA (Australian Performing Arts Centres Association) Drover Awards in Sydney overnight. Selected by the APACA Executive Management Committee, the award is in recognition of the company's outstanding contribution to performing arts touring in Australia.
Established in 1997 by Eva Di Cesare, Sandra Eldridge and Tim McGarry, Monkey Baa has become Australia's widest-reaching arts touring company; working with schools, artists and children's organisations across remote, regional, rural and metropolitan Australia and the USA.
"For many of our young audience members in both regional and metropolitan areas, a Monkey Baa performance is their first experience of live theatre," said Monkey Baa Theatre Company Creative Director, Eva Di Cesare. "We are thrilled to receive this award, which reflects our ongoing dedication to wide-reaching arts education for young people. We believe that all children, wherever they live, should have the opportunity to experience theatre and arts education programs, so it is wonderful to be recognised in this way."
