After presenting critically acclaimed sell-out productions of Sunday in the Park with George & Merrily We Roll Along, Little Triangle will present The Wild Party with emerging Australian performers in November for a strictly limited 2- week season at the Seymour Centre.
"Unsnap those garters and those starched lapels. It's time to get wicked and wild"
Based on the explosive 1928 poem by Joseph Moncure March, The Wild Party tells the story of the scintillating Queenie and her hot-tempered lover, Burrs. In a heated moment of violence and vulnerability, Burrs suggests the two throw a party to end all parties. With a guest list worthy of Sodom and Gomorrah, the party brims with vaudeville's bawdiest. From a brassy stripper to a devilish playboy, a sinful brother act to a fading Broadway diva, an ex-boxing champ to an ex-chorus girl, a hopeful ingénue to a pair of hopeless producers, and a flock of vivacious chorines to a morphine addict, the line-up of characters are as wicked as they come.
Tension builds when Queenie's best friend and rival, Kate, arrives with her latest accessory, Mr. Black, who catches the eye of the enchanting hostess. During the wild night of a gin, skin and fun, the guests find themselves caught in a tangle of lust, limbs, and secrets. After midnight dies, however, they are left with feelings of hopelessness and regret that linger in the sobering morning light.
Director Alexander Andrews, Music Director Conrad Hamill & Producer Rose McClelland have assembled some of Sydney's finest emerging & established musical theatre talent. With qualifications from WAAPA, VCA, NIDA, AIM, Queensland Conservatorium, Federation University & Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, this cast is overflowing with talent.
The Wild Party is led by Georgina Walker (WAAPA), who, after thrilling critics & audiences alike as Dot in Little Triangle's inaugural production of Sunday in the Park with George, toured the country as the titular role in Alice in Wonderland and will soon appear in Hayes Theatre Co's She Loves Me. Her surly partner, Burrs, will be played by Matthew Hyde (WAAPA) who has recently completed productions with Australian International Opera, Lyric Opera of Melbourne, & StageArt. Previous Little Triangle audiences will recognise the unique talent & voice of Katelin Koprivec (AIM) who has appeared in both Sunday in the Park with George and Merrily We Roll Along. Nick Errol (WAAPA), most recently seen in The View UpStairs (Invisible Wall Productions & Sugary Rum Productions in association with Hayes Theatre Co) will bring the mysterious Mr. Black to life. Other revellers include Jack Dawson (NIDA) who recently starred in SoPopera's The Little Mermaid & who featured in Little Triangle's Sunday in the Park with George, and audience favourite Victoria Zerbst (FreudianNip co-founder) who was most recently Mary in Merrily We Roll Along. The Brothers D'Armano, Oscar & Phil will be Samuel Skuthorp & Michael Boulus, accomplished Queensland Conservatorium graduates. Tayla Jarrett (WAAPA) will play the naïve Nadine, after appearing in Merrily We Roll Along & starring in Theatre & Company's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as Olive Ostrofsky. Olivier Rahmé (AIM) & Emily Hart (WAAPA) will comprise odd couple Eddie & Mae. Producer duo Gold & Goldberg will be presented by Zach Selmes (AIM) & Simon Ward (Royal Academy of Music), both previously seen in Little Triangle productions. Madelaine will be played with gusto by Prudence Holloway (VCA) & whose morphine-addicted lover will be played by Madeleine Wighton (Federation University). Rounding out the cast are the incredible chorines, Victoria Luxton (Queensland Con), Matilda Moran (WAAPA), Sophie Perkins (Queensland Con), Jordan Warren (VCA) & Rosalie Neumair (Mountview).
For the first time Little Triangle has engaged a choreographer and is thrilled to announce that dance will be led by the accomplished Madison Lee who most recently choreographed both Bare for Understudy Productions & Falsettos for StageArt.
