COFFEE ... early morning ritual, soother of headaches, fuel for focus, inducer of shakes, afternoon pick-me-up and the binding element of social, professional and romantic occasions. What started as a necessity for a study aid soon percolated into a deep love affair as self-confessed java junkee, artist and performer Catherine Wait brings her personal ode to the bean with Love, Loss and Lattes at the Sydney Fringe Festival 13-17 September.

Winner of the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2016 "Highly Commended" Award and "Top Pick" of the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2015, Love, Loss and Lattes explores personal and universal themes of love and loss via narrative storytelling punctuated by a riveting variety of physical circus skills.

With a background in gymnastics and dance, Catherine (aka "Missy) stumbled (delicately) upon the circus arts while completing her degree in Art History and Theory at the College of Fine Arts UNSW. Beginning with pole work, she extended her repertoire to include mastering advanced single and double aerial hoops and silks work. Inspired to smash pole dancing's "strip club" stereotype, Catherine was twice awarded 2nd Place in the Australian Pole Dancing Championships (2009) as well as twice running National Finalist in Miss Pole Dance Australia (2008-2009).

With such expertise under her sequin belt, Catherine is at the forefront of fusing contemporary dance and narrative into a new art form.
