Kerry Comerford is Promoted to Vice President by Really Useful Group

The Really Useful Group is delighted to announce the promotion of Kerry Comerford to Vice President, Asia Pacific.

As Vice President, Asia Pacific, Kerry will assume all responsibility for first class productions and licensing in the Australia and Pacific Rim countries. Kerry joined The Really Useful Company Asia Pacific in 1995 as an Executive Producer and was appointed General Manager in 2001. She has overseen the presentation of the first Korean Language production of The Phantom of the Opera in South Korea and the first Chinese Language production of CATS amongst many other productions.

Barney Wragg, Managing Director of the Really Useful Group said:  “Kerry has been with our company for over 17 years and has proved herself to be an outstanding executive both in terms of her creativity, business acumen and people skills.”

The Really Useful Group is also pleased to announce that Patrick Murphy, Vice President, Production will now assume responsibility for all first class productions and licensing in Japan in addition to his existing responsibilities in Europe and the US. Patrick will continue to be based in London and report to Barney Wragg, Managing Director.

Barney Wragg said: “Japan has consistently been one of our largest territories; nobody is better placed in our business to support and develop our titles in such a key market than Patrick.”

After 18 years with the company, Tim McFarlane, Managing Director of The Really Useful Company Asia Pacific, will leave on 31st March 2013.

Kerry began her career as a receptionist and usher at the Theatre Royal in Sydney. In her thirty years in the industry she has worked for many of Australia’s leading theatrical companies including, The State Theatre Company of South Australia, Administrator of Come Out Youth Arts Festivals 85 and 87; Executive Producer for Adelaide Festival Centre Trust, Marketing Manager for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, General Manager of Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and Deck Theatre Company in WA, and Director of Tandanya, the National Aboriginal Cultural Institute. Kerry was also a commissioner for the South Australian Tourism Board.

In 1995 Kerry joined The Really Useful Company Asia Pacific as Executive Producer and was appointed General Manager in 2001. She has overseen the presentation of the first Korean Language production of The Phantom of the Opera in South Korea, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, in Beijing and Shanghai, the Australian production of The Graduate, The Phantom of the Opera production in South Africa, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore, Shanghai, Australia and New Zealand and most recently the first Chinese Language production of CATS. She has been responsible for the presentation of numerous international productions for the RUC Australia in Lebanon, Qatar, Kuala Lumpur, Korea, Shanghai, Taiwan, Scandinavia, Athens, Thailand and China.

Kerry is also Chair of Monkey Baa Theatre for Young People, a position she has held since 2005.
