Jenny Morris and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy are thrilled to announce that Art of Music Live at The Studio at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday 4 May, 2017 is close to selling out as Jon Stevens, All Our Exes Live in Texas and Imogen Clark are announced to join Neil Finn, Megan Washington and Jack Carty on the night.

Every two years Art of Music Live delivers to its audience an extremely intimate "money can't buy" experience like no other to raise funds for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. Curated by the immensely talented Jenny Morris, Art of Music Live brings together an amazing array of talented performers for an up close and personal evening of music under the sails of Sydney's iconic Opera House.

Our MC on the night will be ABC Radio's James Valentine.

The performers showcase their unique take on some of Australian music's most loved songs and no two concerts are ever the same. These once only performances are created specifically for Art of Music Live. For lovers of unique concert experiences and great Australian music in a fantastic location, there is no other event of its kind.

Auction items available to purchase on the night are an original artwork by Archibald Prize winning painter, Guy Maestri (see here) as well as an original guitar hand-painted by acclaimed Australian artists, Nicholas Harding and Laura Jones.

This guitar is a limited edition Gibson Les Paul Studio in Wine Red finish and comes with a unique Min-ETune function. The guitar alone is valued at $3,500 AUD and with the addition of the artwork makes this not only a priceless piece of artwork (see here) but an opportunity to own an iconic and legendary guitar favoured by the likes of Jimmy Page, Slash, Marc Bolan, Ace Frehley, Pete Townshend and Bob Marley.

Megan Washington, a tireless Ambassador for the work of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, has said "My relationship with music therapy is pretty real. Since I was 5 years old I've had a stutter. I had a lot of speech therapy as a child but the main thing I did with any real benefit was singing. I found it effective & subsequently became a singer as a profession. For me the problem I had was only solved by music. When I've been out to the music therapy centre and seen the work that Nordoff Robbins do, I feel like they are effective in situations when other approaches are not. It's a unique approach and for me it was life changing."

All proceeds from Art Of Music Live go to Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy who transform lives through music. We all know how powerful music is in our day-to-day lives, but it is even more powerful in a therapeutic environment. Nordoff-Robbins have given children speech, when they were told they would never speak. It has given people motor skills, when they were told they would never be able to move their arms again. And it has given new life to the elderly struggling with Dementia. The power of music truly has no boundaries.

Jenny Morris said today, "It's an exciting prospect (but given the love that exists for Nordoff Robbins, not an unexpected one) that Neil Finn will travel from NZ to play at this amazing concert. Given he's coming such a long way, I am thinking I may be able to twist his arm to play a little longer for us ..."

Art Of Music Live is an extension of the overwhelmingly successful Art of Music series which sees prominent contemporary visual artists from Australia and New Zealand come together to create a uniquely music inspired exhibition with each artist choosing an iconic piece of Australian music, using it as inspiration for their own original artwork, culminating in the Art of Music Charity Auction and a sumptuous Gala Dinner, with special guests and live entertainment.

Ticket cost: $195 per ticket. Tickets to this special event are on sale now and selling fast! Go to www.artofmusic.com.au for details.
