The international award-winning hit musical THE BODYGUARD begins its Australian tour tomorrow night with the first preview at the Sydney Lyric Theatre. Producers Michael Harrison, David Ian and John Frost are thrilled Australian audiences will finally experience this exciting show, with its iconic story and soaring ballads. THE BODYGUARD plays through May and June at the newly renovated Sydney Lyric Theatre before transferring to the Lyric Theatre, Brisbane from 19 July, then the Regent Theatre, Melbourne from 24 August.

Walking the red carpet at the Gala Opening Night on Thursday 27 April will be a galaxy of celebrities including Jessica Mauboy, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Shannon Noll, Casey Donovan, Lisa Wilkinson, Larry Emdur, David and Lisa Campbell, Sonia Kruger, Alan Jones, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Melissa Tkautz, Todd McKenney, Erika Heynatz, Cameron Daddo, Lucy Durack, Sandra Sully, Deborah Hutton, James Stewart, Erin Holland, Darren Palmer and Jacqueline McKenzie.

Leading THE BODYGUARD cast is the fabulous Paulini as Rachel Marron, with Kip Gamblin as bodyguard Frank Farmer, Prinnie Stevens as Nicki Marron and Emily Williams as the Alternate Rachel Marron. Andrew Hazzard is playing Sy Spector, PatRick Williams is Bill Devaney, Brendan Irving plays the Stalker, Damien Bermingham is Tony, and Glaston Toft plays Ray Court.

Based on the Warner Bros hit movie which starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, THE BODYGUARD has been hailed as "London's Best Musical" by UKs Magic FM, and "The Hottest Ticket in Town" by The Sunday Mirror. The film was written by the acclaimed, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Big Chill, The Empire Strikes Back), and the musical features a book by Oscar winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman).

The world premiere production of THE BODYGUARD commenced previews at London's Adelphi Theatre in November 2012, starring Grammy and Tony Award winner Heather Headley as Rachel Marron. It was nominated for four Olivier Awards, and won Best New Musical at the Whatsonstage Awards. With numerous sell-out extensions, the West End hit ran for two years, and a UK tour commenced in February 2015 before a West End revival last year. Subsequent productions have opened in the Netherlands, Germany and Seoul, and productions will open this year in Milan and Madrid. A North American tour began last November, starring Grammy nominated superstar Deborah Cox.

Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard Frank Farmer is hired to protect superstar singer Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge - what they don't expect is to fall in love.

THE BODYGUARD features a whole host of irresistible classics including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, Run to You, I Have Nothing, Greatest Love Of All, Million Dollar Bill, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and one of the greatest hit songs of all time - I Will Always Love You.
