David Mitchell, Max Lambert, Christie Evangelisto and James Millar will join Richard Carroll at Hayes Theatre Co on Monday 30 May for a Musical Theatre Writing Seminar.
Hayes Creative is a new initiative from Hayes Theatre Co, in which Seminars, Workshops, Masterclasses and Talks will be presented at Hayes Theatre Co to assist in the development of all things creative.
This first of many seminars will focus on the writing of Musical Theatre and feature some of Australia's leading Musical Theatre creators. Sharing their own experiences of creating Musical Theatre, the event will be moderated by Richard Carroll and be followed by a Q&A with the audience.
David Mitchell has written, often in collaboration, the musicals SHOUT - The Story of the Wild One (which started David Campbell), DUSTY - The Original Pop Diva (starring Tamsin Carroll), and DORIS: More Than Just The Girl Next Door (starring Melinda Schlender).
Max Lambert is one of Australia's most talented and prolific composers, arrangers, musicians and musical directors. Max has composed many musicals including Miracle City and Darlinghurst Nights.
James Millar is currently playing Mrs Trunchbull in the Australian production of Matilda. James - with his collaborator Peter Rutherford - has penned the musicals The Hat Pin, Love Bites and A Little Touch of Chaos.
Christie Evangelisto is a dramaturg and producer with over a decade of experience in new musical/new play development and production. She recently served as Literary Director at Signature Theatre in New York and at New York's Playwrights Horizons theatre company, where she was the Director of Musical Theatre Development & Resident Dramaturg. At Playwrights, Christie oversaw the development and production of new musicals, most notably the Tony Award-winning Grey Gardens.
