Neil Gooding Productions will present the award winning musical DOGFIGHT at Hayes Theatre Co from 1 May to 31 May 2015.
November 21, 1963. On the night before their deployment to Vietnam, three young Marines set out for one final boys' night of debauchery. But when Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, the unassuming and idealistic waitress he enlists to win a cruel bet, she rewrites the rules of the game and opens his eyes to what really matters in life.
Based on the 1991 movie of the same name starring River Phoenix, DOGFIGHT premièred Off-Broadway in 2012, where it won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical and was nominated for 5 Outer Critics Circle and 2 Drama Desk Awards.
DOGFIGHT will star Johanna Allen (The Threepenny Opera, Wicked, Dr Zhivago), Danielle Barnes (Priscilla Queen of The Desert), Hilary Cole (Carrie The Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, Miracle City), Toby Francis (Love Death and An American Guitar: The Songs of Jim Steinman, Truth, Beauty and a Picture of You, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Emily Havea (The Light In The Piazza), Haydan Hawkins (Possum Magic, Pirates of Penzance), Luigi Lucente (The Rocky Horror Show, Wicked, Jersey Boys), Kyle Sapsford (LoveBites, Sweeney Todd), Mark Simpson (Hairspray, On The Twentieth Century), Jack Van Staveren (Merrily We Roll Along) and Rowan Witt (Into the Woods, South Pacific).
"We assembled the cast for the first time last week to perform a number at the Hats Off charity concert. Having now heard them all sing together, I am hugely excited about finally getting into the rehearsal room in 5 weeks to start creating our version of DOGFIGHT. This will be the first production that has been seen of this incredible new show in Australia. The design team are currently finalising their concepts for set, costumes and lighting, but it is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting productions I have ever put together", says Neil Gooding
