Griffin Theatre Company Presents EXHALE By Black Birds 9-13 April Image

Following the enormous success of Brown Skin Girl at Griffin's inaugural Batch Festival in 2018, Sydney interdisciplinary collective Black Birds return to the Stables stage with their powerful show, Exhale. Created and performed by Ayeesha Ash and Emele Ugavule, this intercultural, intersectional work delves into indigeneity, accountability and trauma, exploring the nuanced relationships forged between Indigenous cultures on foreign lands in a spirit of hope and healing.

Known for their energetic, uplifting performances uniting spoken word, movement, dance, song and story, Black Birds address the female Black and Brown diasporic experience in Australia with intimacy, wit, power and grace. If you like theatre that exposes and interrogates the norm, theatre that starts conversations, theatre that sheds light, challenges and empowers, then this is for you.
