Following sell-out, critically acclaimed seasons in Edinburgh, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth, The Last Great Hunt's FAG/STAG comes to Griffin's Stables Theatre for its Sydney premiere 10 - 27 January 2018.
Written and performed by two of Australia's sharpest young writers, Jeffrey Jay Fowler and Chris Isaacs, FAG/STAG is a truthful and comic insight into the mind of the modern man.
Jimmy (Fowler) and Corgan (Isaacs) are BFFs. Jimmy is gay, Corgan is straight. Hurtling towards their 30s, life is filled with a mix of Tinder, Grindr, binge-drinking and half-hearted hook-ups. As the wedding of Corgan's ex looms and Jimmy's love life stagnates, the two struggle to get their lives in working order. FAG/STAG is one story, told twice, from the perspective of two (very) unreliable narrators.
Say Fowler and Isaacs, "we put the jigsaw together from pieces of our own experience and the experiences of the people around us". They add "we wanted to capture the end of our twenties, as well as a true to life picture of friendship, masculinity and sexuality."
Brimming with laughs, tenderness and quarter-life-crisis ennui, this festival hit asks what it really means to have a best mate when you're stuck being your worst self.
