Danielle Asciak will hit Sydney for the first time with her sexy, delightful & unpretentious; JUST AN OLD FASHIONED GRRRL! following her sell out season at Melbourne's iconic Butterfly Club that engaged generations of Eartha Kitt fans (generally aged 40-80), cabaret fans of all ages, the queer community and young arts/cabaret enthusiasts. JUST AN OLD FASHIONED GRRRL! will play Slide Cabaret Lounge tonight, 25 Sept.

Asciak sings Eartha Kitt in an intelligently crafted music-bio with Kitt's life integrated with song, to parallel circumstances in both performers' lives.

The show runs for approximately 60 minutes, and is accompanied by a professional jazz pianist. Languages spoken/performed include English, French and Turkish.

It is appropriate for 15+ audience. It explores themes of love, relationships, identity, rejection, empowerment, grief, womanhood and independence. This is not an impersonation of Kitt but rather reflects on the lessons we can all learn from Kitt's fearless approach to life and love.

"Eartha Kitt taught me that to be a woman, you must be daring. Life and love should never be compromised. She came to me when I needed to feel sexy again. She taught me to embrace the 'woman' that I am meant to be. Not the 'woman' that people want me to be." said Asciak.

"Miss Asciak assumed and triumphed under the guise of Eartha Kitt with a gorgeously constructed program. Grrr, indeed." Tom Ford, 3MBS & The Limelight Magazine

"There are times when it seemed as though Kitt was up there, purring at us; for the remainder Danielle's own style takes over, as it should." John Sheridan, Vision Australia Radio
