Dance Makers Collective have called in some unlikely experts for their next show, their dads! From 2nd to 5th November, FORM Dance Projects and Riverside Theatres will present the new highly-anticipated work from Dance Makers Collective entitled Dads.

Director and performer Miranda Wheen said, "Dads is about finding dance in the most unexpected places. As a professional dancer, I was very surprised to find that my dad also had a dedicated dance practice, the only difference being that his occurs behind closed doors...with a tambourine."

Through interviews with their dads and sessions in the rehearsal studio, Dance Makers Collective have uncovered a secret world of dance practices including carport parties, door knobs as dance partners, sherbets for Dutch courage and the use of dance as a pathway for recovery.

Dads will journey to the heart of why we cannot help but dance, combining contemporary dance, recorded interviews with a variety of fathers and a soundtrack guaranteed to make you want to 'slide around the floor'.

Producer and performer Carl Sciberras said, "What I love about this contemporary dance work is the revealing insight it provides into our relationships with our dads. To enhance the storytelling aspects of the show, we employed some interesting radio documentary techniques throughout the process. Our dads were very honest and candid in their interviews because they were conducted by us, their children, and so the love is abundant. The things they told us about dance were often surprising, and those moments of discovery are the gems we facet in this show."
