Childish Gambino Hits #1 On The ARIA Singles Chart With 'This Is America'

GRAMMY, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning recording artist, actor and producer Childish Gambino has hit #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with his poignant song and its captivating video, 'This Is America'.

The success of 'This Is America' is reflected in New Zealand and the United States, where the song has also topped the charts. The track continues to maintain its #1 position on Spotify's Global Chart and Australian Chart, is #1 on Apple Music, and reached #1 on iTunes in 45 markets, including Australia.

Released during his hosting and performing stint on Saturday Night Live two weeks ago, the powerful video for 'This Is America' has been viewed over 110 million times worldwide.

The Hiro Murai-directed video for 'This Is America' has been the most viewed music video on YouTube for 13 days in a row, and reached #1 on the YouTube Songs chart in 11 countries. The video earned 85.3 million views in its first week on YouTube, making it the biggest first week debut of any video this year. The video for 'This is America' is also tied for the 5th fastest music video to reach 100M views in YouTube history, reaching the mark in under 9 days.

NPR describes the visual as 'a shocking and brilliantly produced video for the song that's left fans and music critics scratching their heads for days,' while The Fader proclaims the track as 'a whiplash of a song that jolts from celebratory to terrifying, repeatedly - a lot like the news, I guess.'
