Carnival of the Animals Returns to QPAC

Lovers of circus, animals and music roll up as the acclaimed Carnival of the Animals returns to Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC's) Playhouse from today, Saturday 9 January 2016.

A production by renowned Brisbane based company Circa and QPAC's signature Out of the Box Festival, Carnival of the Animals celebrates the zoological diversity of planet earth featuring a striking backdrop of digital animation and a new contemporary music score by Quincy Grant inspired by the symphonic work of composer Camille Saint-Saëns.

After its popular premier season at QPAC's 2014 Out of the Box festival, Carnival of the Animals toured the globe, receiving critical acclaim and thrilling audiences from France and Chile to Colombia and New Zealand.

Now this captivating production returns to Brisbane directly from its Montreal season to delight families through imagination and creativity in an educational, rich and fun theatre experience.

Carnival of the Animals features whimsical tales of creatures of land and sea, who tumble, fly, leap and spin their way through the many wondrous worlds of the animal kingdom. The zebras juggle and flip, the kangaroos skip and somersault, there are elephants with street-cred, and even the dinosaur bones shake, clatter and roll to the music!

Nominated for a 2015 Helpmann award for Best Children's Production, Carnival of the Animals is inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns' celebrated salute to feathers, fur and fins with Circa's talented acrobats bringing the classical music suite to life for a whole new generation of circus, music and animal lovers.

Since 2006, Circa has toured to 33 countries across six continents, earning rave reviews from critics, describing their work as, 'stunning...exquisite... heart stopping' and 'electrically charged'.
