Betty Grumble's LOVE AND ANGER Takes Over Griffin's Stables Theatre In January Image

Are you Betty to Grumble?

Betty Grumble, a.k.a. Emma Maye Gibson, brings her ecosexually charged protest party of dancing, dissent, disco and deep push back-ery back to Griffin Theatre Company's Stables Theatre this summer for an exclusive season running 21 - 26 January.

A womanifesto, call to arms and long hard kiss from surreal showgurl, obscene beauty queen and totem critter, Betty Grumble returns to Griffin following a sold-out performance at this year's Batch Festival. Featuring music from Stereogamous (Paul Mac and Jonny Seymour), the multi-award winning Love and Anger will radically reshape the way you think about femininity, pleasure and the body. Trust us-you've never seen anything like it.

Winner Innovation in Form, Green Room Awards 2017
Nominee Best Cabaret Performer, Helpmann Awards 2017
Winner Best Cabaret, Fringe World 2017, 2018

EMMA MAYE GIBSON (AKA BETTY GRUMBLE) is a Sydney-based performance artist. Largely through the avatar/war mask/love letter/totem critter of Betty Grumble, she engages her body as a political and medicinal site of performative catharsis often in a genre smash of ritual physical theatre, cabaret, performance art and multi-media-sometimes even making herself into a vulvic printing press. She is a proud ecosexual and believes in the shamanic/shawomanly power of live space. She has her Masters in Fine Arts/Arse and has presented work at Dark Mofo, The Sydney Opera House, Glastonbury, Edinburgh Fringe, Perth & Adelaide Fringes, The Melbourne Comedy Festival, The Festival of Dangerous Ideas, Belvoir St Theatre, The Bearded Tit, Berlin Fringe and beyond. She is excited to present her ongoing Womanifesto Love & Anger at Griffin Theatre Company and is currently engaged in developing a new work under the guidance of mentor Annie Sprinkle in her world-saving trilogy of performance ceremony.
