Review: DIVA MOMENTS at The Alex Theatre

With simply a grand piano and a pair of killer stilettos, 4"11' performer Christina Bianco from New York is a total diva...in the best way! With a voice to die for and masterful impressions that brought audiences to their feet (twice), Bianco's show is an ode to our favourite pop, jazz, and broadway divas.

Many of us know Christina Bianco and her famous impressions from her viral YouTube videos and appearances on shows like Ellen and Graham Norton but her live performance, with musical direction by the supremely talented Michael Lavine, is all of that brilliance and more.

Bianco flies from impression to impression flawlessly and with razor sharp precision. With the ability to mimic some of the world's most famous female singers and actresses, the audience is treated to snippets of Bette Midler, Bernadette Peters, Judy Garland, Celine Dion, Norah Jones, Christina Aguilera, Edith Piaf, Billie Holliday, Shirley Bassey, Patti LuPone, Gwen Stefani, Keira Knightley, Idina Menzel, Bubble from AbFab....THE LIST IS LONG! One of the most impressive divas we get to hear from though is Christina herself. Performing numbers like Wherever He Ain't from Mack and Mabel, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and What Did I Have That I Don't Have from On A Clear Day You Can See Forever, Christina's own voice and range is sublime.

All Bianco's impressions are performed with a clear adoration for these women of stage and screen and the show was even more poignant on International Women's Day (March 8th).

This two act show has a laugh per second and perfectly demonstrates why Christina Bianco is a global phenomenon.
