Join Opera Australia's artistic director Lyndon Terracini as he unveils plans for the 2017 Season when opera's traditional home closes for an upgrade.
At 11am, Tuesday 23 August 2016, Opera Australia is packing up its goods and chattels and is on the move in 2017 when the Joan Sutherland Theatre (JST) at the Sydney Opera House closes for renovations.
Having been opera's traditional home since it opened in 1973, the JST is closing for six-months to undergo extensive renovations, which means that Opera Australia needs to find new places to perform in 2017.
Meeting the challenge head-on, OA has programmed an exciting season for 2017 in new venues, familiar venues and venues in-between with some classic favourites and some spectacular new productions all in the mix.
Come behind the scenes at OA's headquarters in Surry Hills where they'll be packing up their props, costumes and stage pieces and moving to new digs in 2017.
"The launch of a new season is always an exciting time for Opera Australia and 2017 is our most diverse and adventurous year to date. We have created an experience that we hope you will find provocative, stimulating and exhilarating," said Mr Terracini.
Announcement of Opera Australia's 2017 Season will take place on Tuesday 23 August, 2016, plan for a 10:45am arrival for an 11:00am start at The Workshop, The Opera Centre, 480 Elizabeth Street.
