Direct from London, the ever popular comic opera The Pirates of Penzance, promises to delight Adelaide audiences!
Sasha Regan's acclaimed all-male UK production of The Pirates of Penzance is coming to Her Majesty's Theatre, Adelaide for two performances only at 2.00pm and 8.00pm tonight, 20 October as part of a national tour.
Presented by Arts Projects Australia, Regan's production of The Pirates of Penzance became a huge hit in 2010 when it transferred from the tiny Union Theatre (the 50-seater venue she established in 1997), to the oldest surviving music hall in the world, Wilton's Music Hall, London and was named Best Off-West End Production at the What's On Stage Awards.
Suitable for ages five years and over Sasha Regan's Pirates of Penzance is a very new take on one of the most popular and loved works of Gilbert and Sullivan today.
Gilbert and Sullivan were the Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart of their day, constantly updating their work with satirical, social and political references and Regan's production of this musical classic continues this tradition.
Tickets are priced from $39.90 and may be purchased through all BASS outlets and online www.bass.net.au.
Regan's Pirates cast features Alan Richardson as Mabel (winner the People's Award for Best Actor in the Off West End Awards 2011); Matthew Gent as Frederic; Nic Gibney as the Pirate King; Joseph Houston as Ruth; Neal Moors as the Major General; Adam Vaughan Sergeant of Police; Michael Burgen as Samuel; Dale Page (whose film credits include: 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' is Kate; Stewart Charlesworth as Edith; Lee Greenaway as Connie and Chris Teo Cook as Isabel.
