The ever-entertaining sister duo, Hannah and Eliza Reilly, are back at it ... this time in the theatre! After becoming viral internet sensations, hosting radio shows, and creating the ABC Series 'Growing Up Gracefully: the Reilly's are taking over Belvoir's Downstairs Theatre with an Australiana musical unlike any other.
Yarramadoon The Musical is the story of a small town with a big heart, and an equally large problem with meth. It's 2004, jean shorts are at their baggiest, denim skirts at their shortest, and if you had a flip phone, you were basically a millionaire. Come on a musical journey as sixteen year old Shelly chooses between inevitable teen pregnancy in her rural hometown, or beginning an exciting career in retail in the Big Smoke, Sydney. All with the help of a kind (but casually racist) old man who might just convince her to stay, Yarramadoon takes the grottiest aspects of rural Australia and wraps it in all the glitter and spectacle of a musical. It captures both the charm and frustration of living in a small town, and gives us a hilarious slice of life from Aussie characters that have never been seen on stage.
Sydney's theatre community and audiences are thrilled that Belvoir has reopened it's Downstairs Theatre in 2018. The '25A' season is an new independent theatre program, giving a phenomenal platform for some of Sydney's most exciting emerging artists.
Women of many talents, the Reillys have co-created the musical and will both perform in the show alongside Predney, the musical composer and director.
