You may think a 45-year-old is too old to be described as "Fresh" but the Sydney Comedy Festival has hand-picked Canberra's Chris Ryan to be part of the Festival's new Australian talent program in 2019 for her laconic take on everything from romance to passive aggressive co-workers.

"Fresh is probably not the first word you'd use to describe me - I've always felt about 75 - but I appreciate the faith the Sydney Comedy Festival has shown in me and the opportunities its already given me by taking me on Showcase Tours last year - who says Sydney people hate Canberra, eh?" Chris said.

"No, this is great news and I hope people feel more confident to take a chance on this unknown woman and her strangely titled show, Bogus, which is about resenting and ridiculing the expectation that we must be well rounded, successful adults when we're mostly a collection of dysfunctions and faults held together by dental floss," Chris said of her show Bogus which debuts on Friday 22 March at The Street Theatre as part of the Canberra Comedy Festival.

Last year, Chris performed her first solo show Grey Matter at Sydney Fringe Comedy and gained spots in the Canberra Comedy Festival Gala, the Sydney Comedy Store and Enmore Comedy Club, Floriade Nightfest, TEDxCanberra and the Fearless Comedy Gala and CanBRA Comedy Gala fundraisers and Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase Tours to regional NSW and QLD.

When: 7pm Saturday 18 & 6pm Sunday 19 May 2019
