Simon Keenlyside is the very incarnation of British vocal artistry and one of the foremost lyric baritones of his generation. When this native Londoner’s Geneva début took place in 1993, as Papageno in Mozart’s Magic Flute, he was already a household name on the greatest European stages. His fans in Geneva are lucky to have been able to witness some of the highlights of his brilliant career, namely his performances of the title roles of Hamlet in 1996 and Pelléas et Mélisande in 2000. More recently, Simon Keenlyside was back in 2010 as a recitalist, offering a moving rendition of Schumann’s Dichterliebe and a selection of art songs by Fauré and Ravel. This exceptional artist will add Geneva to Brussels, Vienna and London, on his latest performance tour, promising without a doubt one of the most exciting evenings of the Grand Théâtre recital season.
