The Russian lyric stars of tomorrow are calling at Geneva for one night only, in an exceptional recital evening. The Grand Théâtre de Genève’s faithful partner in Saint Petersburg, the Mariinsky Theatre, established its own academy for young singers in 1998. In this way, the great Russian opera house offers talented young artists a platform to further their studies while taking part in its productions. The artistic director of the academy is none other than Larissa Gergieva, celebrated accompanist and major figure of the international lyric scene. Four of her protégés will alternate on stage for an evening of Russian song, in works by Rachmaninov, Moussorgsky, Borodin, Rubinstein, Tchaikovsky and others.
