La Wally at Grand Théâtre de Genève

In the little mountain village of Hochstoff in South Tyrol, Wally is in love with Hagenbach, but her father wants her to marry his right-hand man Gellner. The free-spirited girl decides to ignore her father and go live on the alp. When her father dies, she comes down to the village to inherit his wealth and finds out Hagenbach is in love with another woman. Or is he? Wally and Hagenbach’s love story is full of misunderstandings, jealousy, rash words and regret, but it also has moments of heroic mettle and passionate reconciliation before dissolving into snowy oblivion.
