Every year, the Cercle du Grand The?a?tre and the Grand The?a?tre de Gene?ve organise a unique recital evening featuring some of the greatest opera voices of the day. After having hosted the dazzling Eli?na Garanca, with Karel Mark Chichon conducting the orchestra of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbru?cken in January 2013, the patrons and management of the Grand The?a?tre de Gene?ve are delighted to invite you to an evening in the company of Jonas Kaufmann. More than ten years after his inaugural performance at the Grand The?a?tre in the title role of Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust, Jonas Kaufmann returns to the shores of Lake Geneva, to local audiences’ greatest delight. Over the past years, this distinguished dramatic tenor has been hailed everywhere for his unique baritonal colour and luminous high notes, becoming one of the most demanded lyric artists in the world. Especially acclaimed for his great Heldentenor performances in the Wagnerian repertoire (Parsifal, Lohengrin, Siegmund and Walter), Jonas Kaufmann has chosen for this exceptional performance one of the masterpieces of the Romantic period, Franz Schubert’s Winterreise. His recital at the Grand The?a?tre promises to be a highlight of the Geneva musical year.
