Ferruccio Furlanetto has only ever been seen twice on stage at the Grand The?a?tre, notably in Le nozze di Figaro, more than twenty years ago. This recital even- ing is a way of making up – in part – for the Friulese singer’s excessively long absence. Which lyric artist of the day can boast of having worked with conductors like George Solti, Carlo Maria Giulini, Leonard Bernstein, Daniel Barenboim or James Levine? Some may even still remember his Salzburg Leporello, with Karajan, in the 1980’s with which he achieved international stardom. One of the greatest contemporary performers of Verdi, Ferruccio Furlanetto recently tackled several great roles of the Russian repertoire. At the end of the season, his basso cantante will be heard at Covent Garden in Don Carlo’s Philip II and in Simon Boccanegra’s Fiesco.
