Fairy-tales, when you look at them closely, are usually set in a pretty conventional universe. Morality reigns supreme, beauty is celebrated and love affairs are conducted according to time-honoured rules. But what if Sleeping Beauty never woke up? And what if Cinderella never found her glass slipper? And what if Snow White were Snow Black? Choreographer Laura Scozzi, whose contribution to La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein was applauded on stage last season, makes light of gender codes, sweeps aside archetypes and clichés to offer a radical reinterpretation of the fairy-tale classics. At the crossroads of dance, mime and theatre, her show is unabashedly accessible to all audiences. With its cast of eight fantastic hip-hop dancers, Snow Beard and the Sleeping Seven Little Pigs is bound to please both kids and grown-ups!
