In 2007, Anna Caterina Antonacci gave a masterful performance of Cassandra in Berlioz’s Les Troyens at the Grand The?a?tre. For her upcoming recital, she continues her exploration of the French art song repertoire with works by Chausson, Faure? and Debussy’s famous cycle Les Chansons de Bilitis. The Italian mezzo-soprano has a surprise in store for her Geneva audience, as she will also be performing the Wesendonck-Lieder. Richard Wagner’s song cycle inspired by his love affair with Mathilde Wesendonck is a new addition to Anna Caterina Antonacci’s traditional 17th and 18th century mezzo repertoire and a sign of her recent incursions into soprano territory.
