Ever since its foundation as the Grand Théâtre’s patronage organization, the Cercle du Grand Théâtre has offered Geneva’s opera house unfailing support and encouragement. Every season, the Cercle sponsors an exceptional event, which this year will be a recital by the spectacular Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu. Adored by audiences from New York’s Met to Vienna’s Staatsoper, Angela Gheorghiu will be spending just a few hours in Geneva with her fellow countryman, conductor Tiberiu Soare, for a recital that promises no end of delight for local music lovers. With the Cercle’s generous support, Angela Gheorghiu has chosen opera arias from Handel to Puccini, with Bizet and Massenet in between.
